Key facts

  • Dragon Link is a series of Aristocrat venue pokies with Asian themes, built on the Hold and Spin feature first used in Lightning Link.
  • 6 or more bonus symbols start Hold and Spin: they lock in place and you get 3 respins, reset by every new bonus symbol.
  • Like Lightning Link, Dragon Link offers four jackpot levels, with the top prize for filling every position.
  • Each Dragon Link theme has its own free games round alongside Hold and Spin.
  • The original game is rarely found at the online casinos that accept Australians; hold and spin pokies from other studios work in a similar way.

Dragon Link is a series of venue pokies made by Aristocrat, the games maker founded in Sydney. It takes the Hold and Spin feature that made Lightning Link pokies famous and pairs it with Asian themes, each with its own free games round. In Australian clubs and pubs, Dragon Link is one of the most recognised pokie families, and it is among the pokies Australians search for most by name.

Hold and Spin on Dragon Link follows the same pattern as Lightning Link:

  1. 6 or more bonus symbols land in one spin and start the feature.
  2. The bonus symbols lock in place, each showing a value or a jackpot.
  3. You get 3 respins, and every new bonus symbol locks and resets the count to 3.
  4. The feature ends when the respins run out or every position is filled.
  5. You win the total of the values and jackpots on screen; filling every position wins the top jackpot.

Dragon Link is a family of themed games rather than one pokie. Themes include Autumn Moon, Golden Century, Happy and Prosperous, Panda Magic and Peacock Princess. Each has its own symbols and free games round, while Hold and Spin and the jackpot structure are shared across the series. In venues, the machine's information screen shows how the jackpots work on that machine, including which are progressive and which are fixed.

Aristocrat offers its games online mainly through social casino apps, run by its studio Product Madness, where you play with virtual coins that cannot be cashed out. In some regulated markets overseas, Aristocrat Interactive supplies real money versions to licensed online casinos. At the casino sites that accept Australian players, the original venue game is rarely available.

If a site offers "Dragon Link pokies online", check the provider name in the lobby: in most cases it is a hold and spin pokie from another studio. Those games often have demo versions; our free online pokies guide explains how to try them.

Both are explained in our guide to jackpot pokies, and Aristocrat's wider range is on our Aristocrat online pokies page.

Hold and Spin is designed to feel like a big win is one symbol away on every respin. Set your budget and time before you start, and stop when you reach either. In social apps, coin purchases are real spending with no return. Gambling Help Online offers free, confidential support 24/7 on 1800 858 858.

Frequently asked questions

Is Dragon Link the same as Lightning Link?

They share the Hold and Spin feature and a four-level jackpot structure, and both are made by Aristocrat. Dragon Link has its own Asian themes, symbols and free games rounds, and its own jackpot presentation.

How do you trigger Hold and Spin on Dragon Link?

Land 6 or more bonus symbols in a spin. They lock in place and you get 3 respins. Each new bonus symbol locks too and resets the respins to 3, until the respins run out or every position is filled.

Can you play Dragon Link online for real money in Australia?

The original Aristocrat game is rarely available at the online casinos that accept Australian players. Aristocrat offers its games online mainly in social casino apps, and as real money games only in some regulated markets overseas.

What Dragon Link themes are there?

Dragon Link is a family of themed games, such as Autumn Moon, Golden Century, Happy and Prosperous, Panda Magic and Peacock Princess. Each has its own free games feature; Hold and Spin is common to all.

Is there a free version of Dragon Link?

Aristocrat's social casino apps let you play some of its games with virtual coins. Coins can be bought but never cashed out, so set a spending limit in your app store settings if you use them.
